2020 SCHOOLS PROGRAMME

Since we established Shock Therapy Productions in 2015 we have had a number of successful projects in both schools and the main stage.

2019 has been a huge year and we are thrilled to announce our exciting 2020 schools programme!

Our 2020 vision is full of contrast. Classic meets contemporary, light meets dark, horror meets hope and the internal meets the physical. We are offering 4 powerful, energetic and thought-provoking shows, coming to you live, in your face and in the highest res possible!

MEDEA

Shock Therapy Productions add their signature touch to this psychological thriller, one of the greatest classics of the western canon. This stylised, minimalist production combines conventions of traditional Greek Theatre, Epic Theatre, Physical Theatre and multiple role playing, to deliver an intense and gripping experience accompanied by a thumping contemporary soundtrack.

UNDERTOW

Undertow is a brand new original work that explores themes of resilience, mental health, relationships and identity. It is an honest and powerful look at the hidden forces, beneath the surface that move us and determine the choices we make and the actions we take. Centering around a highschool community, the show follows a group of individuals, from a range of backgrounds, all dealing with their own unique challenges.

THE STONES

This award-winning play about youth crime and punishment continues to engage, enthrall and excite audiences and now Shock Therapy Productions puts their signature stamp on this classic work.

THE APOLOGY

Inspired by a true story of a high school student who ‘took revenge’ on a classmate who was bullying him after his father advised him to ‘fight back’, The Apology is a searingly honest look at the repercussions of taking revenge and the long term effects that bullying can have.

UNDERTOWWorld Premiere

We are thrilled to announce that Undertow, written, directed and performed by Hayden Jones and Sam Foster will have its World Premiere at SunPAC in February 2020. This mainstage production will provide students, teachers and the general public with the chance to be the first to see our brand new, original production.

Undertow was developed with the support of the Sunnybank Performing Arts & Cultural Centre (SunPAC).

VIRALBrisbane Powerhouse

We have been blown away by the success of Viral since we wrote it back in 2016 and it is incredibly exciting to see that continue in 2020.

Viral will perform a two-week season at the Brisbane Powerhouse in August, 2020 before setting off on tour to a number of theatre venues across South East Qld. This will be a chance for Brisbane and South East Qld students, teachers and general public to see our full scale 2016 Matilda Award Winning production.

Following the Brisbane Powerhouse season Viral will tour during September 2020 to the following venues; Dalby Civic Theatre, HOTA (Gold Coast), Logan Entertainment Centre & Venue 114 (Sunshine Coast). For more info please check the above venue websites.
