8 April 2019:

Shock Therapy Productions is on the hunt for a Part-Time Producer to join our family!

Shock Therapy Productions is a Gold Coast born arts company founded in January 2015 by Sam Foster and Hayden Jones. Shock Therapy Productions has quickly established itself as a leading company in the delivery of high quality, relevant, multidisciplinary performance, and a leader in the Arts and Culture sector on the Gold Coast and in South East Queensland.

Company founders Sam Foster and Hayden Jones have a wealth of industry experience, artistic vision and enthusiasm that drives the ethos of the company. Shock Therapy Production’s vision is to create Provocative Arts Experiences, through story telling that explores what it is to be human - provocative, challenging, uplifting and impactful.

Shock Therapy have been awarded the Matilda Award for Best Independent Production for the last 3 consecutive years and have also been finalists in the Gold Coast Young Entrepreneurs Awards for the past 2 years. Over the past 4 years Shock Therapy Productions have become an industry leader in the delivery of Theatre in Education and currently has 4 productions that tour Queensland Secondary schools year-round.

Shock Therapy’s work has been commissioned by major festivals, had their work published by Playlab, toured both nationally and internationally and been acclaimed by audiences and critics alike. Some of the organisations/ festivals that the company has worked with include; Bleach Festival, Festival 2018 (Commonwealth Games) Splendour in the Grass, HOTA, Brisbane Powerhouse, NORPA, Cairns Festival, Zeal Theatre, Queensland Theatre, Vinterlysfestival (Norway) and Akershus Teater (Norway). The company received funding from the City of Gold Coast between 2015 – 2018 to assist with establishing the organisation and aid in the growth of the Arts and Cultural sector of the entire Gold Coast. The company was then successful in securing an increase in funding from City of Gold Coast through to the end of 2021.

As a small but rapidly growing and ambitous company it has become apparent our need for a passionate and driven part-time Producer, who could take a large portion of ‘producer’ work off of our shoulders, and allow us to put more of our energy into making art and steering the vision of the company.

We have allocated $35,000 per year for this role, working 2-3 days per week. Working days and hours can be flexible and there is the potential for the successful applicant to work from home some of the time. The role may also require the person to travel interstate and/ or internationally to support certain projects. Ideally the position will commence from July 1st, 2019.

We are seeking someone with extensive producing experience who is mid-career, has strong industry connections, is full of energy and vision, and lives (or is willing to live) in the SEQ region.

We are after more than just a producer. We want someone who can bring creative ideas to the table, offer critical feedback and advice and share our company vision of creating provocative arts experiences. We are looking for a person on a similar trajectory, that can grow with us over the next few years, and help to take Shock Therapy Productions to the next level.

If this is you, or you know someone that you think would be a perfect match, please share with your networks or send a CV and cover letter to: admin@shocktherapyproductions.com.au
